The Graveyard Book

“Kipling’s Jungle Book, except in a graveyard.” 

This was an easy read.  It’s a well crafted story about a boy who’s parents get killed and he is taken in by the denizens of a graveyard.

I know there is a grand kerfuffle about Gaiman being canceled for being a sexual predator, but I’m in no position to weigh in on such things.

This was an award-winning book.  It is one of those books that could be classified as ‘young adult’ but doesn’t need to be.  It covers themes of death and longing and education and duty and love and it so very well crafted.

There is real tension and action and resolution. There are great characters. There is family. There are quests and journeys and failures and triumphs.

There is good versus evil.

And it all flows nicely and easily like a walk through an old graveyard on a sunny spring afternoon.

An easy read.  A good read.  Everyone can find something worthwhile in this.
